in reply to @Bilby's post:

I actually asked my friends this exact question a while back, or specifically i phrased it as "what games from the 32 bit generation should I play that I haven't, with a focus on JRPGs" and here's what i got back, more or less:

  • Operation Logic Bomb (SNES)
  • Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
  • Secret of Evermore (SNES)
  • Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (SNES, also on NDS)
  • Live A Live (SNES, it was obscure at the time but then a Switch port came out)
  • MOON (ironically, same as above)
  • Xenogears (PS1)
  • Grandia (PS1, rereleased on PS3, Switch)
  • Threads of Fate (PS1, also on Vita)
  • Valkyrie Profile (PS1, also on PSP)
  • Breath of Fire IV (PS1, rereleased on Vita and PS3)
  • SaGa Frontier 2 (PS1)
  • Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber (N64)
  • Dark Cloud (PS1, rereleased on PS2 and PS4)
  • Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (PS2)
  • Dark Cloud 2 (PS2, rereleased on PS4)
  • Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2)
