I saw this post a while back and thought, “Holy shit, that’s Linnet.” This comic is definitely on the exaggerated side, but yeah, she has a genetically modified fusion of a Maine coon cat and a raccoon named Lavender that she grew in a lab. She’s got a cleft palate and some other health issues, but she’s otherwise a happy cooncoon that Linnet takes very good care of, so moral ambiguity ho! Also since Linnet’s friggin tiny and Maine coon cats and raccoons can be massive fluffballs, Lavender’s like… half the size of Linnet, ahaha.

The thing that really made that post remind me of Linnet though is that she has a very low tolerance of any perceived unfairness against her, even if from an outside perspective the two things really aren’t comparable. She’s also very protective of Lavender, and she threatens to personally kick anyone who calls Lavender ugly out of an airlock.

I still don’t know how to place speech bubbles… :\c

Oof, these refs took me like a month to complete thanks to a lack of motivation, but these two sorely needed a design update. I haven’t changed their designs since 2014-2015, and their old designs didn’t age well with my art style. They look a lot more mature now as well, which fits their personalities and demeanors much better.

Normally for character references I don’t strip my OCs down to their underwear, but I needed to show off their scars and markings somehow. x’D Hopefully some tastefully underwear’ed synth butts aren’t too inappropriate for main.

Just felt like doodling Linnet and Kobi standing next to Rayner because holy height differences, Batman. On his own, Rayner doesn’t look all that tall because of his proportions. He’s just… big. Like if you took an averaged sized person and then just scaled them up.

The silly part is Rayner sees Linnet and Kobi as authority figures, so the tiny 142cm (4′8″) synths could boss around the 213cm (7′0″) war android and he would happily obey. Lin and Ko really care about him though, so they wouldn’t exploit that.

I need to update Linnet’s and Kobi’s designs at some point. They’re a bit outdated. :1c

A little more than a year ago, I was first considering getting into 3D modeling mostly so that I could model Rayner’s freaking legs so that I could draw them at interesting angles. A year of learning to model later and I’ve finally done it… I modeled his arms too just to make sure the elbow joints worked in a 3D space, and they do, but it wasn’t interesting enough to include.

I say this a lot, but if you’re an artist like me who struggles to imagine and design things in a 3D space when drawing, then learn how to 3D model. It’s helped me so friggin much. Also, I can guilt-free trace my own models because I modeled the dang things anyways. Spend time modeling stuff so you can save time later!

Also, I’m going to say it first since I know half you heathens are thinking it: Thicc. His upper thighs came out wider than I intended, but that’s easy enough to fix down the road. :v
