Stiiilll slowly working on my custom skin compatible Minecraft player rig. Current world events, a chronic migraine, and just plain demotivation really slowed things down :’)

I think this is the first proper walk cycle I’ve ever finished and posted? It was a little funky to do since simplified Minecraft feet means a simplified foot rig I had to adapt to, but I think it turned out pretty good!
Gah, the knee pop bothers me though. I couldn’t use a soft inverse kinematics setup because that involves scaling and stretching, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from this project, it’s that MC-style models REALLY don’t scale well :(

Also, I made this custom skin of my OC Dayne like a month ago but never had a good opportunity to show it off, so here he is in glorious Blender Cycles quality :D

mmmMMMMM in hindsight, this was not the best choice of poses after having not drawn in like… fffour months…? Two if you count my last painting. So much anatomy wonkiness that I just really couldn’t care enough to fix, so I slapped some color on the sketch and called it a day, ahaha. Good concept, failed execution
I did a Valentine’s day drawing on time, at least! That’s rare

One day I’ll get around to trying to draw kisses. Today is not that day. My gravitation towards hugs is too strong

I was thinking about couples with height differences as I do, and thought about how both of these two are stupidly tall. Then I realized… oh shit… I can stack them. Which then led to the inevitable. RIP Dayne’s skull. Rayner’s absolutely fine though, he’s fallen off several story buildings before. :)

I’ve been trying to draw my OCs in more outfits lately instead of their defaults all the time, since I have a bad habit of trying to be on-model with my characters 24/7 and gravitate to “default” designs like a meteor on a collision course with a sun.

It was only a matter of time before I use a Monster Factory/The Final Pam reference with these two. It doesn’t make sense because their universe is set way the hell in the future and Monster Factory would be a figment of the past, but I’m god of my own content and I do what I want. It wouldn’t make sense to Rayner regardless because he’s basically impervious to pop culture references and jokes, but give him enough time and he’ll realize eventually.

Over on my main blog I reblogged a prompt about what terms of endearment your OCs call their significant others a few days back. The serious answers are that Dayne calls Rayner honey/hon while Rayner calls Dayne sweetheart and ‘my love’, but Dayne would absolutely use joke terms like ‘metal husband’ too. @pristine-starlight sent me a nice ask saying, “[thats] the best news i’ve heard all week, thank you,” and anytime anyone acknowledges my silly OCs it fills me with motivation, even in these dark, seasonal-depressiony times. So thank you. :>

I like drawing fluff during winter regardless, it seems. Probably subconscious self-preservation from the depression. :^) Also, their height difference is actually accurate this time because even though Dayne’s pretty tall, he can’t beat the 213 cm tall war android. Nobody in my current cast of characters can.
