Just a fun little posing test render of my WIP Minecraft player character rig at my lighthouse base

Rigged Minecraft models are probably plentiful (I’m not sure because I haven’t looked to hard tbh), but I wanted to make my own to help with creating custom textures and to get some rigging practice in

I plan to upload it to Blend Swap when I’m done, so if you’re interested in simple, custom skin-compatible Minecraft models that are rigged for animation (FK and IK, Pitchipoy-style spine, etc), then keep an eye on my blog, I’ll link it here when I’m done being indecisive and upload it, heh

2024 BlueBead here! Spoilers; it never got uploaded. The file was done and ready to go, but I got anxious about actually sharing it, so I didn't. 💀 And now Blender's changed so much in 4 years that the rig is incredibly outdated with Blender's more recent rigging changes, so... RIP

This screenshot is from way back in June, but I’ve had this dumb scenario in my head ever since. Finally got around to drawing it since I’m on a Minecraft kick again
Drawing Minecraft characters in a way that doesn’t look weird is harder than I remember x’)

I love the character dynamic between these two, because Viviana severely over-reacts to most things while Rayner tends to under-react. He doesn’t always realize the gravity of some situations until someone else panics, then is like, “Oh. I guess this is pretty bad, huh?”

I saw this tall people troubles post, saw the pic 7th from the top, and I immediately thought of these two. Even with his lower legs being pistons so he can sink down a little bit, it’s still not enough. :’D

I’m getting better at time & effort budgeting with my art, so I’m spending way less time perfecting my sketches and line art and more time making sure things have decent shading. ‘Course that means I spend more time fixing errors since my sketches are a vague, rushed mess, but it speeds my art process up drastically overall. I can’t remember the last time I finished a full colored drawing in 2 nights, hah.
