Yee heckin haw, guess who learned how to make stylized shaders that can use multiple light sources? It is I!
I needed to update my shader anyways since my previous one is like 9 months old and I had like 0 experience with Blender EEVEE back then.

Part 1 of Lightning Boy Studio’s toon shader tutorials over on YouTube explains how to use multiple lights, but the quick explanation is you have a pure red, green, and blue light, use a shader to RGB, separate RGB, and then use the separated channels as inputs for different parts of your shader. I recommend watching all the tutorials though, there’s some super neat tricks throughout!

I also added some very novice manual normal editing on her face. It’s probably easiest to notice when she’s turning into the shadows. The shading looks a little more smooth and intentionally placed, like in 2D art. Looks super crusty in viewport, but nice in the renders!

How come all my best topology jobs are from when I’m like, “Let’s just retopologize this face sculpt real quick so I can texture it without dying inside,” instead of when I’m actually trying? 😩 I mostly just wanted to focus on her head and hair, hence the plain bust from the neck down.

Jokingly complaining aside, here’s my OC Maverie again! If you couldn’t tell by her being the only OC I’ve drawn in the past few months, I’ve become attached to her character like static electrically-charged saran wrap. I’m just a sucker for soft, fluffy characters, it seems.

I think I’ll try to include wireframe renders for most of my 3D stuff from now on. Partly so I can show off my behind the scenes work, and partly because I’m a nosy bastard when it comes to 3D modeling stuff, so I’m paying it forward to my fellow nosy modelers, ahaha

Modeled in Blender 2.82, textured in Clip Studio Paint, rendered in Blender EEVEE

Minecraft player rig walk cycle

Stiiilll slowly working on my custom skin compatible Minecraft player rig. Current world events, a chronic migraine, and just plain demotivation really slowed things down :’)

I think this is the first proper walk cycle I’ve ever finished and posted? It was a little funky to do since simplified Minecraft feet means a simplified foot rig I had to adapt to, but I think it turned out pretty good!
Gah, the knee pop bothers me though. I couldn’t use a soft inverse kinematics setup because that involves scaling and stretching, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from this project, it’s that MC-style models REALLY don’t scale well :(

Also, I made this custom skin of my OC Dayne like a month ago but never had a good opportunity to show it off, so here he is in glorious Blender Cycles quality :D
