I’ve been pretty devoid of drawing ideas lately, so I figured I’d try to interpret what a scyther from RimWorld looks like from their sprites

RimWorld sprites normally don’t show arms or legs, but scythers definitely look like they have arms that are 100% blade, yet if you check their health tab when they get damaged they apparently have hands and five fingers?? So I gave them vaguely praying mantis arms with a hand just stuck behind a folding blade, hah. Mechanoids do have that whole insect theme going on after all

What is it with me and loving the designs of enemies that are the absolute worst to deal with gameplay-wise? Those raids that are just a pack of like 50 scythers is the worst RimWorld experience I can think of, but I just can’t resist robots, I guess

mmmMMMMM in hindsight, this was not the best choice of poses after having not drawn in like… fffour months…? Two if you count my last painting. So much anatomy wonkiness that I just really couldn’t care enough to fix, so I slapped some color on the sketch and called it a day, ahaha. Good concept, failed execution
I did a Valentine’s day drawing on time, at least! That’s rare

One day I’ll get around to trying to draw kisses. Today is not that day. My gravitation towards hugs is too strong

I saw this tall people troubles post, saw the pic 7th from the top, and I immediately thought of these two. Even with his lower legs being pistons so he can sink down a little bit, it’s still not enough. :’D

I’m getting better at time & effort budgeting with my art, so I’m spending way less time perfecting my sketches and line art and more time making sure things have decent shading. ‘Course that means I spend more time fixing errors since my sketches are a vague, rushed mess, but it speeds my art process up drastically overall. I can’t remember the last time I finished a full colored drawing in 2 nights, hah.

My 2D and 3D art are slowly becoming more and more indistinguishable from one another and I’m very excited about that. :] Part of that’s likely because I did the texturing entirely on the flat UVs because I no longer fear God.

I’ve been meaning to design Rayner’s armor for ages, but since I suck at drawing and designing hard surface objects, I waited around until I could model it first.
