I got to play Royce Hall several times while at UCLA as part of their mariachi and this video was from the very first time I got to do that (I'm on harp). That was also the first time I played to a packed house in a theatre instead of outside or to a small gathering. It wasn't the first time ever that I played in front of an audience, but it felt like the first time where it felt like it really counted. Something like 3/5ths of this group ended up becoming professionals. Mary Alfaro on vocals makes me melt every time; her voice is so pretty

Omg, youtube just reminded me that the 2018 version of this show essentially had me playing harp in 3 different regions (in a show that had 6 groups altogether). That day was *wild*, because I had to juggle 3 sound checks, had 3 different outfits I had to wear, and had last minute rehearsals with 2 out of the 3 groups (the third group was super chill). I got paid so much that day lol
