As the title says, I indeed have gotten my first CRT a couple days ago! I payed 4 bucks for it, and the stickers on the back say that it's an RCA ColorTrak F20640BC manufactured in November of 1998. It has paint chips all on the top of it, so it may have been in someone's shed for quite a while. The picture quality is nowhere near the highest, with it only having a single composite input and an antenna jack, and the colors were completely wrong when I first got it going. I managed to fix it by using a strong magnet and waving it around and shit. Dunno if that's the way you're supposed to do it but it's the way I did it and it worked. It's been pretty fun playing retro games on it and I hope that it will continue living on long into the future.
I also managed to find a mechanical keyboard for 2 dollars the same day at a different thrift store in the area. This is actually my first mechanical keyboard, so I pretty much know nothing about them other than the fact that they make the funny clicky noises while you're using them. From the sticker on the bottom, it appears to be a Ducky Zero DK2108SZ with Cherry MX Blues in it (Don't quote me on that. I don't know anything.) From the little bit of research i've done, it appears that the Ducky brand sometimes has QC issues with keyboards just randomly shitting out on people. Overall, it feels nice to type on so if it does eventually shit out on me, it would have been 2 dollars well spent.
Pretty good day of thrifting.
(btw cohost! crashed my firefox while i was writing this and i had to rewrite large portions of it post. don't use a bunch of huge images kids.)
