So this is a weird mess of continuity errors. So these two trick-or-treaters appear in the original Saturday Tales Halloween Special in "dream sequence" that explains to Candy Jack (the pumpkin headed character who wears a devil's costume and goes by C.J. in latter stories) what could happen if they don't help the protagonists. Then these trick-or-treaters appear in these two panels from Magician by Day to recap the events of the Halloween Special. The thing is that this scene doesn't happen in the Special. The kids only appear in that first dream sequence and these two panels just give the gist of what the readers needs to know to read that book.

So I have recurring characters that don't actually exist in the world of the story, if that make sense? Is there a literary term for that? It isn't exactly a Phooey Duck situation.
