for those who noticed Kid Klown on this list and wondered if it was secretly popular in Japan or whatever: that game was the specific end-product of a campaign by Dengeki SFC to "help a middling dev create a good game"—fans were able to submit ideas and vote on various aspects of the production, including selecting Kemco as the developer, picking the main character design etc, so it had a decent amount of buzz at launch for the sheer fact that people wanted to see whether the end product was any good or not.
