It's a shame. I liked the actual horror vibe from some of the commercials I've seen. Then they show Slimer and the mini Stay Pufts and I'm just "Oh. Well then."
I have no hopes for the new movie. Afterlife hurt me so bad that it will be a long, long time before I touch a Ghostbusters again. That movie was pure nostalgia and product placement in place of any storytelling.
I couldn’t even watch it. As soon as I heard it was about Egon’s family, I noped out because modern blockbusters can’t do genuine emotion anymore. Then I heard about the ending and I’m glad I didn’t go because I would have thrown enough food at the screen to get me banned from the theatre.
I think the funniest thing about Ghostbusters nostalgia marketing is that it's directed toward people who probably last saw the original movie when they were too young to actually understand a third of the jokes in it
Absolutely. It’s for the ones who played with all the toys and watched the Saturday morning cartoon. Who care more about seeing all the toys they played with on the screen than interesting plots.
