A skunk in the hedgehog's dilemma

Award winning writer and critic, accountant, and also skunk furry. I write BRAND ECHO with Ing and I write other things at other places. Mostly SFW, but minor DNI anyways

Okay, furries: need some clarification here.

I don't want to be a skunk but I do want to be a skunk person. I don't have moments where I can feel a skunk body but I do have moments I can feel a skunk person body. (I use the word 'skunk' interchangeably with 'skunk person.')

My brief research online points towards therianism being seeing oneself as an animal - so if I were a therian, I'd want to be a skunk, not a skunk person. Is this accurate?

Essentially I'm asking, am I a therian.

🎙️ I think anybody who treats therianism as a strict construction of 'you must want to be Specifically An Animal and Hate The Idea Of A Humanoid Body Plan or you don't qualify' is a gigantic shithead who isn't worth your time, put it like that. Reject all identity-essentialism. What you describe sounds like a very therian experience to us and all that really matters is that therian is a label that is useful to you.
