Kayde (they/it)

Kayde is my main fursona! they are an Arcanian goat (a black bengal goat in particular) and they use they/it pronouns. describing them is basically the same as describing myself; they're perpetually exhausted, a lil grumpy, obsessive over topics that catch their interest, a bit of a prankster, anxious about many things, and extremely easy to fluster.

they are also an Arcanian, which is a sort of modifier species kinda thing that a good friend of mine @AvenueArcania came up with - the short of it is that instead of being made of physical and organic matter, their body is fully built from raw magic mimicking natural biology. this has a lot of quirks, among which are their inherent skill with magic and their susceptibility to effects which interact with magic. for example, if they were to attempt to walk into an anti-magic field, they would be instantly stopped as though they walked into an invisible wall. a lot of the deeper specifics of this are being explored in a D&D campaign i play in as Kayde!

this inherent magical nature means they spend a lot of time practicing magic and doing research adjacent to it. they're very obsessed with learning more about their physical form, both in how it works and how they can push its limits. one of the key factors they've come to understand is how reactive their body is with magic, and this gets them into plenty of situations.

and by situations... well, Kayde being my main fursona also does mean that they are prone to all of my own personal urges and desires. i have a lot of those, and at least 3/4ths of them are kinky and weird. many of these involve TF or inflatables. many of them are distinctly "god i wish that were me" scenarios that i live vicariously through making them happen to Kayde. not every situation is like this - it's a pretty even spread, usually. and don't worry, they enjoy it too.

Kay in an empty, light blue space asking "Now how on earth did I get in here?"

Kay (it/its)

Kay is by all means an anomaly. see, i mentioned that Kayde does end up getting up to many TF shenanigans, but in the end they're protected by a sort of quirk of the universe that prevents them from ever getting stuck as something that isn't the original Kayde. usually this means if Kayde gets stuck indefinitely in some TF where they can't reverse from it, the universe will do a sort of "restore from backup" process - creating a new Kayde body and rewinding their consciousness to the point just before the triggering event. this also is supposed to wipe the identity out of whatever Kayde got stuck as and replace it with something more appropriate.

this process experienced its one and only hiccup in the creation of Kay. i do actually plan to eventually cover this in the process of writing (eventually), so i don't want to divulge too much here... but the short of it is that the identity shifting only half worked - Kay is a combination of Kayde's identity and personality with that of a more generic balloon critter entity. it still SEES itself as some part Kayde, but it also knows it isn't THE Kayde. it also... kind of received a glimpse at the artifice of the universe around it (see: it breaking the fourth wall in the cover image).

aside from the ways it still has parts of Kayde's personality, it also distinctly has bits and pieces of its own personality. it is very much a gremlin and a critter - it loves playing pranks, getting up to mischief, climbing onto surfaces and people, and prodding its curious mitts into anything it can reach.

it is by all means a balloon animal in nature as well. it can be deflated if any of its balloon knots are untied, squished and squeezed and compressed and inflated just like any balloon, and even be untwisted and retwisted into any other shape of balloon animal by anyone skilled enough to do so. however, this means that Kay can only do very little magic as it is more balloon animal than magic creature. much of its time is spent towards trying to regain (in its perspective) its magical capabilities.

Max resting on a couch, boba in one hand and phone in the other

Max (they/them)

Max used to be one of my "secondary" fursonas, as i like to call them (fursonas that are still definitely me in many aspects, but also differ in distinct and key ways, or exhibit behaviors or personality traits that i don't commonly exhibit) but have since shifted to be one of my main fursonas. they are a shiny Sylveon taur and go by they/them pronouns. they started out looking much more standard as a typical anthro Sylveon, and then eventually shifted to a full time taur when i realized just how fun it is to be a big, overconfident taur bastard.

Max is, in a phrase, a total showoff. they are my most confident fursona by leaps and bounds. they KNOW they're hot shit, and are not afraid in any way to show it off. they're very cocky, always assured that they're in control of any situation. they have a real flair for the dramatic and will almost never pass up an opportunity to claim the spotlight if given one. they're also big on fashion, enjoying putting together outfits that show off their body in unique ways that only a taur can. and yes, this does include in sexual ways - they're loathe to pass up an opportunity to show off their whole body and love knowing that people are ogling them.

their main hobby is music - by which i mean, they create music freelance alongside putting on small local shows at nightclubs and bars. Max typically makes things that one might label as hardstyle and D&B, but they've dabbled with a fair few genres outside of that. despite acting like a big name star, their music is still pretty unknown. they often slip it into sets they play among more well known tracks in hopes that someone picks up on it and leads to their big break.

Dan floating on their back on the water, propping their head up on their hand and looking teasy

Dan (they/them)

Dan is my longest running fursona! they are a pooltoy Goodra and go by they/them pronouns. i've had them for the longest time out of all of my fursonas, and they've grown (sometimes literally) a lot over the years. they went from a standard Goodra with collar and glasses, then became a pooltoy Goodra, and eventually got much larger (both in height and width) as they were iterated on in commissions i got!

they are generally really positive and upbeat, always trying to be cheerful as often as they can. they're really bubbly and silly which can sometimes get overbearing. they're also very steadfast and protective of their friends. because of their positivity, they are somewhat naive, willing to believe the best in people when shown no obvious reasons to believe otherwise. they enjoy nothing more than spending time making their friends happy.

their most natural place is of course in any pool or waterpark, the latter of which they work at as a sort of mascot of sorts. their main job there is to wander around the park and interact with visitors doing things like photo ops, playing with them in the various pools, and sometimes going down some slides with guests riding on their back! of course, being a mascot character does make them the target of rude guests looking to play mean pranks. luckily, they know when to shut this down and can be quite intimidating in these situations when it is called for - easily helped by their tall stature and a surprising amount of strength for an inflatable being.

nyl struggling with its mitts to spray whipped cream onto a coffee mug

Nyl (it/its)

Nyl!!!! pupy!!! squeaky!!!! it is a Lucario pooltoy (the order there is important!) and it exclusively uses it/its pronouns. i created it out of a strong desire to have a fursona that was exclusively a pooltoy, first and foremost. it ended up taking the form of a lucario as at the same time, i took a fondness to this exact lucario color palette from smash ultimate back when i played it and mained lucario with that palette.

Nyl's main personality trait is its unending font of eagerness and excitability. it is always full of cheer and joy, and pretty rarely runs out. if you see it looking sad or worn out, then you know that something exceedingly drastic or upsetting has happened to it. luckily, it's not hard to get its spirits back up. most of the time if you simply offer to play with it in some way, it will perk right up and quickly go back to its normal, excitable self. it isn't always full of energy though - it can get tired out and when it does, it gets very snuggly and cuddly with its friends. people who sleep cuddling it often wake up feeling even more rejuvenated than normal. whether that's due to some property of Nyl that has yet to be understood, or just due to the comfort of sleeping with something that truly and unconditionally cares about them is uncertain. it works alongside Dan at the waterpark. sometimes it helps out in the more kid oriented pools and play areas, but most of the time it plays around in the big wave pool.

Tack rapidly pressing buttons on a nintendo switch pro controller sitting on their lap while Pico sits on their shoulder pointing at the screen and shouting at something on it

Tack (they/them) and Pico (they/it)

Tack and Pico! my two Mushlings. Tack is the larger one with the Chicken of the Woods mushrooms and green "moss" patches on their back and goes by they/them pronouns, and Pico is the smaller one with the more traditional mushroom cap (Pholiotina Rugosa!) on their head and goes by they/it pronouns. i adopted Tack while also commissioning a custom Mushling that ended up being Pico. the two are essentially an inseparable pair, so more often than not you will see them together.

the gist of Mushlings is that they are fae that resemble real mushrooms, with all the inherent magical capabilities that you would expect of a fae creature that mimics a mushroom. this mimicry helps them with stay disguised and hidden, which is so effective that most people simply see them as ordinary mushrooms. those who are magically inclined are much more likely to notice them however. being fae that take after mushrooms, their magic is released in the form of spores of various potency and that cause a variety of effects from sleep, to paralysis, to even death in dire situations. (for a much deeper dive into the physiology and such of Mushlings, look over here)

Tack is the more mischievous of the two, often plotting little heists which usually amount to stealing food, shiny things, and various trinkets - most often food though. they mostly do this because they love the thrill of it; to them, that is the real reward more than the actual thing they're stealing. as such, they're surprisingly laissez-faire about things if they get caught in the act, typically giving back the item without any fuss and taking any anger or vitriol on the nose. in this way, they have an odd charisma to them that usually ends up charming their pursuer into being less harsh. the one thing they're unwilling to allow, however, is for harm to come to Pico. they are extremely protective of it, and will even take on severe pain or punishment to spare Pico.

in contrast, Pico is much more high strung and shy. they openly worry about Tack's lack of caution in these thefts and typically will try to convince Tack to back out. this usually leads to Pico being roped into the plans, much to their chagrin as they would much rather try to go unnoticed. in times where the two are caught, they are strongly apologetic in behavior, often begging for the pursuer to spare Tack and direct anger at itself instead. this almost always ends up causing a back and forth between Tack and Pico where each requests the majority of the punishment and acts as quite an effective method of minimizing the anger of the pursuer and replacing it with confusion. this is entirely coincidence and not a coordinated plan between the two at all.

of course, this implies that their pursuers already know of and are familiar with the two. in the case where they have any chance of ever being captured by a stranger, both will not hesitate to use their Mushling spore magic to escape unnoticed.

through a combination of accidents and coincidences, Tack and Pico somewhat begrudgingly found themselves bound to Kayde - and Kayde found themself dealing with the burden of having to put up with the two fae creatures in return. eventually, the three wound up becoming accustomed to each other and ended up forging a close bond... though it did take many months of mutual frustration and slow acclimation.
