Workers at Guaranteed Rate Field, the ballpark of the Chicago White Sox baseball team, just won a new contract! After months of fighting employer Delaware North Companies Sportservice―which does most of the concessions and catering at the ballpark―they'll now be guaranteed a minimum $20/hour wage, expanded healthcare, a union pension, and guaranteed shift hours among other things.
Previously, as reported by SBNation blog South Side Sox, Delaware North seemed to provide the the city-mandated minimum wage: $15.40/hr for non-tipped workers and $9.24/hr for tipped workers. Health benefits were also reportedly some of the worst among comparable venue work in the city of Chicago.
