What is great here is that the person doing this may not necessarily own the copyright but it has been hard to confirm what is going on.

I appreciate your enthusiasm here, but there's really no reason we can't publish the takedown we got in full outside of redacting a few private details. We don't have a process for doing so now, but I'll share with the team because I'd like to think about it for the future.

In the meantime, the relevant affected party is more than welcome to request a copy from us.

Mm, based on what I'm understanding their comment was suggesting posting that information unredacted — Who is responsible for these takedowns of Cookie's Bustle is somewhat of a modern day mystery, and no one's gotten clear information as to whether they're actually legit or not. People are wanting answers.

But it's good to know Cohost will consider publishing redacted DMCA requests in the future.

i'm gonna guess it doesn't have anything we don't already know (graceware, ukie/web capio, brandon white/mumith ali) but in the off chance it does i wouldn't mind taking a look at it

the "real" way to do this is for someone who has a notice sent applicable to them to file a counter-notice (as noted in the email) and, if that is disputed, see who shows up to court

but it requires said person to be prepared to pay for a lawyer and to possibly lose a case

its a tough situation. its not like cohost has the manpower or funding to fight these on behalf of posters, and thats if we lived in a world were they could gaurentee users werent violating a copyright.

There are some that say they should have a public posting of every takedown notice that goes through them but I wonder about the logistics of that, especially for sensetive information.

It especially sucks that its for what seems to be a shitty copyright situation to begin with but the way to fight something like that is with a lawyer in court unfortunatley. or just keep posting it other places under new names with new vpn spots. Idk
