a lot of what informs my understanding of the current science of ADHD and CDS is Dr. Russell Barkley's work and finding out last week that he made a youtube channel after he retired that serves as an archive for his lectures is pretty great because now there's one official place for all of it. but also even better is he's making new videos with lectures and commentaries available for free with frequent topics that get brought up in ADHD including updates of the current science in the field which is really invaluable.
it can get quite technical so i'm not sure how accessible this is for people who haven't done their own study or been involved in science or research since most of the time he talks or lectures like he does to students or colleagues, but the information is genuinely helpful for reaching an understanding of the condition. i've seen more than a few comments not liking his tone because he speaks like a clinician to other clinicians, especially when he makes arguments for or against theories and how they've been challenged or promoted amongst that particular community, instead of within ADHD communities, so that's something to take note of when he makes a case for how things are currently understood, at least from my point of view
i'd recommend starting with the "ADHD Overview" video or the "Adult ADHD What You Need To Know" playlist, but you can really start anywhere that interests you since those are hours long and you can watch the shorter videos instead. if drama incentivizes your brain, here's a video where he rebuts Jordan Peterson's claims about ADHD.
Okay I've only seen Dr. Barkley giving lectures and let me tell you, it was a shock watching him go "hello I'm an accomplished researcher in ADHD, I have a glass of wine and just watched John Wick 4, so fuck you Dr. Peterson, and the 40-year-old unrelated study on rats you rode in on" (paraphrased)
