wow that makes that bombshell gamers nexus dropped today even more severe huh doesnt it

i'm just kinda reading comments from the lmg forums and even there folks are not holding back

@lupi

i'd been reading the linus tech tips forum because i wanted to see if there were fanboys (there aren't, really, everyone kinda agrees)

THERE'S A LINUS REPLY IN THERE NOW

i'm going to link a twitter thread here. it's going to cover a lot of heavy topic including sexual assault, being called slurs, and it'll just generally show what an absolute awful place they are. which like, when the biggest feedback from their own employees was "stop pushing us so hard" in that video gamers nexus quoted, not a surpirse

but goddamn

does their apology video even address the one thing Steve really pushed them on, not even Billet Labs, not even Madison's posts.

Does it address that they have been failing at accuracy in the name of high volume of output and refusing to reshoot or bring someone in the booth for 5 minutes to record a correction, when they're putting out knowingly wrong videos filled with onscreen asterisks and then claiming they're gonna be the most reputable independent testing laboratory they can be

in reply to @lupi's post:

linus’ interactions with his staff have always come across as “haha im your boss but don’t think of me as your boss i’m a chill friend who tells jokes. (laughing at my jokes is mandatory)” type shit so i’m not surprised

yeah, and he seems to be a proper narcissist in a lot of ways, which sure ain't great. like, everything's about him, even beyond his name being on the company. he takes everything personally, every criticism, etc

apparently in his vein of narcissim he'd say 'if we need a union that means i failed as a boss"

but there was an reddit post i found from six months ago talking about how he would just kinda shut down the conversation if it ever happened

in reply to @lupi's post:

long story short they got too big for their britches
in trying to push out an ungodly number of videos a week they've gotten increasingly inaccurate and linus has gone on record refusing reshoots even when they know they got something wrong in the moment

in reply to @lupi's post:

stuff definitely started to Change once they moved out of the house into the office park, and once Luke was only there for WAN show. I feel like Luke did a lot of work keeping Linus in check that we only see now on the WAN show

in reply to @lupi's post:

It does, actually, seemingly? They said they're taking a week off to restructure things entirely and try to develop a healthier workflow for everyone, which could really mean anything but god one hopes it's a step in the right direction?

When Linus had his opportunity in front of the camera to speak though he had that same indignant tone and vibe of "I can't believe I'm being forced to apologize for this". It seems like he's the only one who is still resisting the changes in any way.

one can hope, but like. Steve said it yesterday, that first video was the perfect layup for them to fire back and say "this is our 5-step/10-step/whatever plan for addressing how inaccurate our videos have been getting lately and prioritizing accuracy over quantity in the future"

my ex used to watch his videos all the time and I was just confused because I thought it was Linux Tech Tips but then there'd be like, white boy climbing a tree to do some cockamamie water cooling project and no mention of Linux.
