Serene; Sustained And Sustaining:
An Odist is a member of the Ode clade. We are (nominally) 100 individuals descended from a single uploaded consciousness named Michelle Hadje. As Michelle is no longer extant, this had led to us being ten disconnected subclades. Each of us is named from a line in a poem Many of us are human, many of us are anthropomorphic skunks — Michelle was a furry, back on Earth — and two of us are fennec foxes, for better or worse.Sims are the locations in which we live. I happen to be a sim designer, with a specialization in natural settings rather than buildings.
(OOC answer below!)
Post-Self is a shared universe focused on uploaded consciousnesses, where the system in which these consciousnesses live allows them to create copies of themselves (called 'forking') that live individual lives. These new individuals can choose to quit down the line, at which point, the instance from which they have forked (called a 'down-tree' instance, with the most down-tree instance being called the 'root instance') may incorporate some or all of their memories. These groups of instances stemming from an individual are called 'clades'.
The Ode clade is one of the oldest on the System. These Odists stem from an upload named Michelle Hadje. They are all named after the 100 lines of a poem written by someone important to her. This poem takes the form of ten stanzas of ten lines each. Michelle forked the first ten lines, and then each was free to fill out the stanzas as they wished. Each stanza tends to have a different focus based on what Michelle was thinking about when they were forked — yay for ADHD hypervixations!
Sims are locations on this upload system. Think of them like rooms on a MUCK or worlds in VRChat. They are owned by one or more people with a complex system of privileges available for fine tuning.
There is a lot more to the world, which you can learn about here!
