afaict from my time spent in online furry spaces, a lot of furries (a lot as in way too fuckin many) seem to completely forget there are literal people inside these costumes, even as they themselves wear fursuits. many people, in suit or otherwise, seem to run up to suiters and just hug them or otherwise fuck with em without ever asking for consent, or coming in from a blindspot and taking the suiter by complete surprise, or fucking with their tails, whatever.

poodling, imo, actively discourages the disconnection people will have to a suiter - you can literally see the skin of the person underneath the suit. if people are still touching a poodler without consent first, then that is an immediate red flag if it somehow inexplicably wasn't already; those people are unsafe to be around, and are going to be making a lot of people uncomfortable.

wearing a suit head without any other costuming (wrist-length gloves can be worn too) while wearing a t-shirt and shorts. some goofy online-poisoned furries think it's bad because it "ruins the magic, think of the kids"

it's goofy, poodling is great i think it's fun and cute and should be done more often

i've seen negative sentiment about it as recently as this year before i fully deleted my twitter account, but it also got slammed on at the time i saw it so it's seemingly a pretty unpopular opinion to dislike poodling. but there are also still burned furs in the furry community for some fuckin reason, so it wouldn't surprise me there is still a depressing amount of people who have a lot of spite for poodlers

I always recall something a number of years ago where, a person supposedly ran a "survey" that showed that "the majority of furries don't like poodling" and stated that "it should not be allowed at X con", I think the con was in europe.

This was immediately shot down by anyone who heard it, thankfully, but just the basic concept of "you're not wearing your fursuit the way I want you to" was impressively pompous.
