Yeah, I've made a lot of changes for the better since then. It's been a long process, but I'm so glad I did it.
How did it go telling your family?
They were honestly more upset about me becoming a pilot than coming out. When they found out I had enlisted, they went and bought me a grave plot that they called my 'battlefield tomb.'
Oh wow, that's pretty dramatic.
Yeah, the thing is I didn't come out to them until after that, and they had to get the name engraved at purchase. So now there's a tomb for the person I was before transition, which is stupid but also kind of funny to me.
Well, good riddance. I wish I could have come to the funeral.
