This is especially true, because Gale's whole deal of "you have to feed me shoes or the magic nuke in my chest goes off" is the exact sort of character I build to drive my fellow party members and GM up the wall, and then somehow it just works out anyway

In the game he needs magical items to keep the curse or whatever stifled so it doesn't end everything, so of course people started giving him low-level magical items like enchanted shoes or whatever and the bit spiralled out collectively from there
