Funny story, where I grew up there was a 5pm siren test on the regular.
But it wasn't a tornado siren.
It was air raid sirens.

oh yeah, they test the emergency sirens here every first monday of the month at noon
to date I've been fortunate enough to never have heard them go off for any other reason (then again, even the equivalent of a cat 2 hurricane won't do it sooooo)
