I'll start! for me, it's "Does anyone know/where the love of God goes/When the waves turn the minutes to hours" from The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, by Gordon Lightfoot.
Not sure if it really counts as "raw", but the line "Can't shake the devil's hand/And say you're only kidding" from TMBG's Your Racist Friend feels pretty powerful to me
I love that song, and I hate that not only is it relevant 33 years later, but it is arguably MORE relevant than when it was written.
mine is probably “If everybody knows how it's gonna end/Why doesn't someone stop me?” from We Are Scientists’ In Action
time goes by but I always end up thinking about that line
"I wish I had a bullet big enough to fucking kill the sun"
from Hate, Rain On Me by AJJ is a line I will never forget
I’m partial to this verse from This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie:
As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there / And that sign said "No trespassin'" / But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin! / Now that side was made for you and me!
