Among the first generation of liir'aalu to depart from Avuura after first contact was made, the quick-learning Laa'ul rapidly adapted to their changing circumstances by developing a keen grasp of scientific principles and displaying ruthless pragmatism that allowed them to ascend the ranks aboard Cherry Tree station in shockingly little time. Though only middle-aged by liir'aalu standards, Laa'ul carries themselves in a stately, refined manner that initially came about from studying the historical records of several species and constructing a carefully-calculated image they knew would evoke fear and respect among their colleagues.
Those few who know Laa'ul personally will discover that this coldly imposing image is largely a front, for they are in actuality deeply compassionate and put the well-being of their 'troop' (which has come to include pretty much the entire crew of the station) above all else, despite how little they may show it at times. Their residency aboard the station was also marked by a pregnancy and birth of two calves: Hralia and Luura, both of whom contracted Aravaal at an early age, the disease proving fatal for the latter and leaving the former permanently disabled. This lead Laa'ul to devote much of their clout and resources to developing treatments for the illness.
