This is giving me flashbacks to the time I became controversial on Tumblr for admitting to making mac and cheese from a box instead of from scratch
sometimes I put truffle butter ($16/oz) in my 99c box mac 'n' cheese just to feel something
from scratch mac is a delight but it's a ton of fucking work & I often end up having to scour hardened cheese off of alot of dishes in the aftermath, go for the box if you want idgaf
My name has been synonymous in several circles with Kraft Dinner, if anyone looks down on box mac just call them classist and move on. Yes, even if you are putting the truffle butter in it. Don't even hesitate.
From scratch mac'n'cheese is for when things are going great and you feel great and you have energy and you go "Oh heck yeah I'm gonna buy all the ingredients to make mac'n'cheese from scratch" and then you do and you actually somehow make it before any of the ingredients go bad, maybe even on the same day!
Boxed mac'n'cheese is for all other times. Put a little granulated garlic in it if you wanna be fancy. Got some parm you buy every once in a while because it lasts reasonably well? Well shit now we really fancy, spend 20 seconds grating it and dump that in too.
As an aside, a friend found a from-scratch mac'n'chz recipe that was like "dump 5 fancy cheeses and a whole block of velveeta and also a dozen eggs into this thing" and like who wrote this thing, you made a quiche that tastes like velveeta and costs a million dollars. Fuck you. You need to go back to basics. Try again with boxed. You haven't even earned your from-scratch privileges yet, much less recipe-writing privileges.
