A cookie store recently opened up by my place, and it's....really fucking cringe. Now, I know the entire concept of calling something "cringe" is not great but I think we should make an exception for this.
You see, this is a "hip hop" themed cookie place. All the walls and marketing assets are based off of That One Graffiti Style, which, that's fine. Some people don't like it, and I'd be fine if it was just that.
However.
Everything is drug themed. The names of cookies, the names of buying more than one cookie at a time, the hard, thick plastic packaging shaped like pill bottles, and the "purple drank" (which is just lemonade, but purple), which they now also sell in styrofoam cups.
You know. Styrofoam. That thing that has been very not-legal for food places to hand out around here for quite awhile now. But we just have to use styrofoam! Because that's what they do with the drugs! And everything has to be drug themed, because that's what hip hop culture is, right???
Look, I'm cool with drugs. I'm fine with people using pretty much any drug for pretty much any reason. I'm not a cop. And I know that "drug culture" is a thing. But making every. single. thing. about drugs, and this is not a company about selling drugs or funny socks, it's fucking cringe. It's what a 13 year old boy does when he's trying to be edgy. Making your whole brand image based on drugs, for fucking cookies, like...why? What does this accomplish? When I think of things people eat when they're zooted, it's not a sugar cookie with a stupid name.
I attempted to write a Strongly Worded Email about the styrofoam but the contact form was limited to fucking 180 characters so???? at least I tried.
