re: telegram changing the "1488" to "1391": I cannot find a single shred of evidence that any neo-nazis have ever used 1391 as a dogwhistle, and this thing they posted to the mobile apps at the same time as the "1488" image was posted to their blog says "1.3k subscribers." i think saying that 1391 is another, more subtle nazi signal might be grasping at straws

my theory here: some designer making the web version of the mockup changed 1391 to 1488 and giggled to themselves as they slipped it past their higher-ups

in terms of 4-digit numbers, there were pogroms and massacres of Jews in Europe in 1011, 1013, 1021, 1033, 1066 (4,000 killed), 1090, 1096 (5,000 killed in the First Crusade), 1099, 1108, 1135, 1143, 1171, 1179, 1189, 1190 (several times), 1191, 1195, 1206, 1209, 1212, 1221, 1236 (3,000 killed by Crusaders), 1241, 1243 (twice), 1264, 1267, 1276, 1283, 1285, 1287, 1288, 1298 (about 100,000 killed by a mob led by Rintfleisch), 1320, 1321 (5,000 killed), 1328 (5,000 killed), 1336 (1,500 killed), 1337, 1338, 1339, 1343 ("across Western Europe"), 1348 ("throughout Spain, France, Germany, and Austria"), 1349 (at least ten separate massacres, many thousands killed), 1350, 1354 (12,000 killed in Spain), 1368 (6,000 killed in Spain), 1370, 1382, 1384, 1389 (3,000 killed), 1391 (at least 10,000 killed in Spain, over multiple events), 1399, 1404, 1421, 1430, 1435, 1453, 1465, 1468, 1473 (various places in Spain), 1474, 1475, 1484, 1492, 1494, 1495, 1505, 1506 (2,000 killed), 1510, 1511, 1523, 1529, 1547, 1555, 1563, 1590, 1614, 1631, 1639, 1648-1655 (Ukrainian Cossacks kill 100,000), 1649, 1663, 1664, 1683, 1684, 1686, 1689, 1691, 1737, 1761, 1768, 1776, 1905 (twice), 1918, 1919 (at least five times), 1930, 1934, 1936, 1938-1945 (the Holocaust and numerous related events), 1945 (after the war ended in Kraków), 1946 (twice), and certainly more that didn't make it into the sources I looked at.

that's not including ones where it says a community was attacked or destroyed, or there were riots but was not described as a "massacre" or "pogrom" or other mass murder of Jews. also not including the many mass expulsions ("on pain of death"), bans, deportations, mass conversions, forced baptisms, anti-Jewish riots, imprisonment, mass arson, ghettoization, murders and executions of individual or small numbers of Jews, torture, blood libel, accusations of host desecration, confiscation of possessions, stealing of Jewish children, forced identification (badges, hats, etc), various attacks on and bombings of synagogues, oppressive legislation, and the many and various other persecutions. and only in Europe. there was quite a lot of that, and massacres and pogroms I did not list, going on in Morocco, Algeria, Russia, the Middle East, and elsewhere in the general region.

1391 wasn't "the worst pogrom" or the first one like I've been seeing people say either. there have been massacres ten times larger multiple times throughout the centuries. it wasn't even the worst massacre in 14th-century Spain. it's just the first event on the wikipedia page you see when you look up 1391, because there aren't any significant events in 1391 earlier than June 6 that have a known date.

it's important to be on the lookout but it's also important not to waste your ammo firing at ghosts

resoundingly level take honestly. it's still an issue, and still has me questioning telegram's staff and accountability on the whole, but some snickering jackwad in the figma mines slipping a  under the radar surprises me nil

How did you arrive at this list? I went looking for something like this about the time that people were saying that some year references in hogwarts legacy was an antisemitic dogwhistle like this and I didn't find anything in list form
