On May 21, 1977—four days before the premiere—there was a charity preview screening of Star Wars at the Waldorf School Benefit for Artistic Education. Afterwards, at the after party, there was "dining and dancing" where the guests could meet the stars of the new movie. The two Jawas on stage were producer Gary Kurtz's daughters, Melissa and Tiffany. Of course, this was only a few months after Hamill's car accident in mid-January, the signs of which are still visible as the actor's nose is actually bandaged.
