i desperately need everyone to play Brianna Lei's Butterfly Soup. Saying adjectives about it feels wrong somehow, I guess I'll just say, the characters and their interactions are really rich and nuanced and specific and delightful. The sequel is also very good.

I replay “so obscure;” every couple of years. It’s a relatively short vn but I feel like there’s a lot of layers about shame and connection and how our interests define us (especially as teenagers.) or I’m just nostalgic for an earlier internet era 🤔

It's technically an interactive novel if you want to get into the weeds about it but Lena Raine's ESC might be one of my favorite pieces of media. It so perfectly captures that sort of humanity you find in small friend groups online, and the sort of personas we wear in those spaces. It also has a whole lot going on underneath the hood, I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys mind-benders like Zero Escape. I will guarantee that it will latch onto your brain for days afterward

(plus it's lena raine, you KNOW that ost is going to go hard)

ITYH: A Horror Otome grabbed me in a way that few games do. Both the horror and romance is really well done. In a lot of horror/romance I find that the horror ends up being eclipsed by the romance in the end, but ITYH really carries it through the whole game. The main characters are so good--simultaneously sympathetic and like... also the worst. I feel like I'm not doing it justice but goddamn, I love this VN so much. I played through every ending in 2 days and thought about it nonstop for weeks.
