if you find people in similar boats to you and you can keep each other honest for like, several years, then you can sort of jerry-rig something that probably won’t be indistinguishable from classical emotional maturity but which will have its own ramshackle charm. like yes you’re coming to it late but you’re coming to it more aware of people and the world so you can set a little intention with the person you want to be
