after learning about technology connections for the first time a few days ago it got me thinking about how being interested in tech nowadays is a really sorry state to be in. i really hate my propensity to be interested in Cool Shiny New Things when the only Cool Shiny New Things that are made nowadays are cell phones with minutely better specs, or so-called "Revolutionary Innovations" that at best create new problems in the place of the ones they were made to solve (hello electric cars) and that's not even getting into hardcore crypto-techbro territory. i wish loving gizmos and gadgets didn't all but force you into choosing between exclusively looking at old-school inventions that were genuinely novel for their time and becoming the kind of guy who thinks that water bottles would kick ass if we could just cram ai into them somehow

being into "tech" really is just being excited about consumer goods for the most part now. I feel like a chode when I post about computer but the brain is too smooth to stop myself.
