there's nothing funnier than Tumblr, a site which has managed to maintain a userbase in spite of its own repeated, terrible decisions in pursuit of being profitable, seeing a flood of new users fleeing from Twitter's flailing corpse and coming to the conclusion that they need to be more like Twitter
i've been on tumblr since 2012, i'm going down with that ship, i still remember when we managed to lose yahoo just. so much money. become unmarketable
tumblr is a site for superwholock slashfic and transgenderism, the least monetizable things.
they'd be doing way better if they had leaned into porn instead of banning it lmao
true, though i'd say tumblr's particular response to fosta-sesta was more of a symptom of the real issue: they and the other big social media platforms want to invest in human moderation as little as legally possible, so it was way easier for them to announce a porn ban via image recognition software than to even attempt compliance at the time.
