I appreciate the blogs moving over here from Dtoid. I like blogs.

But, I mean Destructoid wasn't really stable with blogs so where ever you post one I'd save a back-up. Just save the whole page.

Oh yeah, back then I started writing my blogs on Google Docs to avoid losing them. I think what I meant by "volatility" is that Dtoid had separate sections for blogs and qposts, and here shorter posts and long form blogs all share the same feed

I don’t know if I am going to regularly post on cohost tbh — very cool platform, I think that the options for blogs are pretty good but I dunno, maybe the spark that I had using dtoid for many years has kind of run out a bit. Still most likely gonna lurk here and some on dtoid though.

I'm torn about it. If I see a whole essay here, I'm not likely to read the whole thing tbh. I'm wondering how to replicate my end of year stuff when the time comes. I will likely post one entry/paragraph at a time. I think its just a better format for me anyway. But I guess I would suggest using show-more lines strategically if you go the long form route.

Go for it! Just include the #cblog hashtag or whatever you choose. Or you could always make your own blog and post the links here when you're ready to share.

Like RiffRaff said, I wish there was more of a bookmark feature. Can't always read blogs as they come up and need to save them for later.

I mean there have always been posts on qtoid where it was like "here's a game I'm playing, some quick thoughts in the comments" and then they write a novel. Could have been a blog! So basically go with what your heart is telling you.

I like that you can choose where to put the "Read More" button so that people can get a glimpse of what you are saying and if they are interested they can click on that to see more, but also hitting that button and then seeing a massive wall of text will probably make people lose interest fast. I like the idea of using #cblogs so they can be sorted by tag if you are looking for the blogs.

Yeah. Use the read more fold below your intro, tag it as a blog, and you're golden.

And for the record, I'd love to see the old qtoid crew post blogs here. I will read them!

You're welcome!

And yeah, it feels slightly slower, probably because we're not all here and/or used to posting on Cohost. Not a bad thing, but I feel like I have to check in on here less often than Qtoid. I can catch up on everything new in just a few minutes barring a very large post.

I've written quite a few blog posts here on cohost now and I personally enjoy it. I don't really write them just to be read. Truth be told a lot of the time I just have a potential topic for a Youtube video or something I've been pondering for a while and find that writing a blog forces me to organize my thoughts better. That I write stuff other people might be interested in is an added bonus.

If you really wanna write some blogs and put them online, I'd put them on Medium or something. But it's probably a good idea to have them backed up to CoHost or other sites just in case.
