I was interested at trying my hand again at blogging and stuff, but I feel like blogging here is a bit more... hmmm, I dunno, "volatile" than Dtoid was, because of the nature of the platform. What do you think?

I appreciate the blogs moving over here from Dtoid. I like blogs.
But, I mean Destructoid wasn't really stable with blogs so where ever you post one I'd save a back-up. Just save the whole page.
Oh yeah, back then I started writing my blogs on Google Docs to avoid losing them. I think what I meant by "volatility" is that Dtoid had separate sections for blogs and qposts, and here shorter posts and long form blogs all share the same feed
True. But if anything I've read most posted here because they're on the same feed. Was pretty bad at clicking the cblogs tab...
I don’t know if I am going to regularly post on cohost tbh — very cool platform, I think that the options for blogs are pretty good but I dunno, maybe the spark that I had using dtoid for many years has kind of run out a bit. Still most likely gonna lurk here and some on dtoid though.
I'm torn about it. If I see a whole essay here, I'm not likely to read the whole thing tbh. I'm wondering how to replicate my end of year stuff when the time comes. I will likely post one entry/paragraph at a time. I think its just a better format for me anyway. But I guess I would suggest using show-more lines strategically if you go the long form route.
Go for it! Just include the #cblog hashtag or whatever you choose. Or you could always make your own blog and post the links here when you're ready to share.
Like RiffRaff said, I wish there was more of a bookmark feature. Can't always read blogs as they come up and need to save them for later.
How long is a blog anyway. If I write more than 3 paragraphs on a game should I tag it? lol
I mean there have always been posts on qtoid where it was like "here's a game I'm playing, some quick thoughts in the comments" and then they write a novel. Could have been a blog! So basically go with what your heart is telling you.
I think pining up a post and linking all my blog posts may be a solution, dunno
I feel safer writing them here, though I wish I could pin them on my profile. I suppose you could make a new page strictly for blogs.
I'm thinking about making a post like "here are all my blogs:" and pinning on my profile page (after I have at least 2)
I like that you can choose where to put the "Read More" button so that people can get a glimpse of what you are saying and if they are interested they can click on that to see more, but also hitting that button and then seeing a massive wall of text will probably make people lose interest fast. I like the idea of using #cblogs so they can be sorted by tag if you are looking for the blogs.
Yeah. Use the read more fold below your intro, tag it as a blog, and you're golden.
And for the record, I'd love to see the old qtoid crew post blogs here. I will read them!
I hope I make something fun to read sooner than later (and then alienate everyone who doesn't play Magic)
Yeah, the tag may be a good solution, also the "read more" seems to be the elegant way to do it
I think it's alright. My feed is so small right now that for longer posts I'm more likely to take the time to look through them since it's all in the same place.
Do you think CoHostoid (sorry) is slower than pre-shitshow Qtoid? Also, thanks for the feedback!
You're welcome!
And yeah, it feels slightly slower, probably because we're not all here and/or used to posting on Cohost. Not a bad thing, but I feel like I have to check in on here less often than Qtoid. I can catch up on everything new in just a few minutes barring a very large post.
I've written quite a few blog posts here on cohost now and I personally enjoy it. I don't really write them just to be read. Truth be told a lot of the time I just have a potential topic for a Youtube video or something I've been pondering for a while and find that writing a blog forces me to organize my thoughts better. That I write stuff other people might be interested in is an added bonus.
Ah, so it is more to get it out of your system, huh? Btw, could you please link me something cool you've written here?
If you really wanna write some blogs and put them online, I'd put them on Medium or something. But it's probably a good idea to have them backed up to CoHost or other sites just in case.
Use both the "qtoid" and "cblogs" tags for blogs. This way it shows in the more common feed, and stays visible in the blogs tag for longer.
I will try and get everyone to favorite both tags until I am blue in the face.
Use both tags for the blogs. That way, they get more visibility
