I'm running into Dorico's player limits again! Had to consolidate some staves in order to add percussion, and I still didn't have room for a nice triangle ding-a-ling-a-ling.
My two main aims for this practice sketch were:

an accompaniment texture that is active, but complimentary to the foreground layer, not drawing too much attention to itself;

a foreground line with a fluctuating mood, that still feels like one continuous line (and not 5 short ones in a row).
The idea itself is quite bland of course, but that's the point. We're practicing how to treat ideas in general; internalizing the elements of craft so that when it's time to write good music, those tools are polished and sharpened for use.
