ooh I'm game
also "#The Cohost Global Feed" is definitely the canonical one. it's the original. it was also intended to be a joke, but it was too good of an idea to remain one haha
Okay thank you!! There are so many flying around and I've just tried to consistently tag multiples >_> in the Mastodon ecosystem, the equivalent is local vs federated timelines and control over how discoverable your post is, which I've found super useful
for what it's worth, the tag autocomplete suggestions are ordered by popularity. it's usually fine to just pick the top one. I get that doesn't exactly help in this specific instance, but the global feed is kind of a hack anyway haha
yeah, cohost is kinda odd to get started on! it's very opinionated in its design, by default you're going to end up in a pretty cozy environment and only get very far out of it with some effort, which is actually kinda nice? nothing gets shoved in your face to promote engagement, things only show up if someone you trusted enough to follow thinks something is genuinely worth sharing, and if it turns out that trust was misplaced and you get inflammatory stuff that ruins your vibes, unfollows don't notify, and mutes keep them from second-order shares on your feed as well, if necessary. it's just nice that anger doesn't travel as far or as fast as it did on the bird site, or anywhere really.
and it's damn nice that TERFs are banned from the website on sight haha
