Exploring the doubling of trumpet and bassoon. The snare and tambourine were the next most obvious choices for the march character, but I had to take some time to think of how to convey the harmonic information. I settled on pizzicato full chords in the strings, with dry piano for some motion and to roughen up their edge. I think this sketch was a success overall!
