Today's room pays off the sinkhole from Jan. 5's room. The ground collapsed months (maybe years) ago, blocking some halls. The residents dump trash here now. Folks can climb the trash up to the surface, but might take up a terrible stench - roll a saving throw or gain Charisma, then Constitution, exhaustion. While exhausted, any ability checks using those stats are rolled at disadvantage.

I went ahead and started sketching out a more robust floorplan, using the room diagram I made yesterday as guidance. It's helpful, but I am struggling to make it work tonight. I'll take an additional crack at it tomorrow.

It is working pretty well in my Beyond the Wall game. BtW uses ability score checks for its skill system, so rolling with disadvantage feels meaningful. I try to include ways to remove exhaustion, but worse comes to worse, you remove one type of exhaustion when you rest for the day. It's been a nice consequence for traps as well, one that isn't just HP loss.
