I'm reading the Oz books that L. Frank Baum wrote, and I just realized how direct a line from Oz to the Piers Anthony Xanth books there is.
I finished The Emerald City of Oz. I enjoyed it a bunch, but I am going to spend the rest of the evening puzzling through my feelings about the ending. Spoilers for a hundred-plus year old book beneath the break.
