they should let me hold onto one or three of the tens of thousands of precooked rotisserie chickens they have in stores, to keep them safe with me, while i eat them.
if you're in a real crunch for time you can just strip those cooked birds and put all of it in a pot of chicken broth with your usual seasonings to kick it all up, then just drop in some mary b frozen dumplings. you're missing a good chunk of the good stuff from boiling the bird right from the get go (bones) but that's chicken and dumplings all the same.
