Everyone should try making an rpg maker game at least once. I'm serious.

...Is being a 2kki dev in the right ballpark? Cuz' that's currently my goal whenever I mess with RPGMaker.
I used to mess with RPG Maker a bunch when I was younger, I can't say I ever made anything good, but that was mostly because I was a young kid and the trial timer didn't give me enough time to make anything good. I'd probably consider it, if I wasn't already comfortable with other game engines that are a lot more flexible.
Not shooting down the RPG Maker though, not at all. I have 45 hours on MV and I picked up XP recently when it was free. I'm just not sure if I'll ever truly turn back. Could be fun to experiment with it again though. For old time's sake~
I actually remember that I had an RPG Maker game kicking around privated on one of my itch accounts. I just redownloaded it and gave it a shot and despite the obvious RPG Maker "charm", it was actually quite good.
A lot of things I would do differently if I had another shot, but for something I made back in 2017, it's not half bad.
fr fr!!
like honestly just give it a whirl. it doesnt even have to be a complete game. i fucked around and made a silly little single room with a couple cutscenes once and it just felt great to do
I made a truly terrible game back in the Don Miguel days does that count
i really want to but i cant think of a good story to go by for the life of me
I dabbled a bit inโฆ I think it was VFX Ace? Something like that. I dabbled in that a bit sometime in the early/mid 2010s, but I never got serious about it. Never had any idea what do with it.
