Holy heck I'm lost in this game... I'm not talking lost direction/ navigation (i am but figuring it out) or lost as in so immersed in the game that I lose all track of time (again I am).

I'm talking lost as in completely oblivious to a fair chunk of what's going on around me in game bc my brain is struggling to learn and get the hang of everything and quick summaries in the guide don't help.

People trying to trade with me and I keep backing out of the trade until I realize who it is. Or something else going on while I'm fighting with buttons and screens and maps and what have you to simply get an idea of what I'm doing in game.

It's kinda what pushes me to the overwhelmed side of things bc I'm so lost as to what's happening while being so focused on trying to figure things out that I simply have no clue...

I'm rambling so I'll just leave it there.

If this is FFXIV, yeah, it’s understandable. It’s a huge game, it doesn’t always have a smooth onramp to understanding its gameplay, and the first major installment of the story (A Realm Reborn, the part you’re in now and will be in for a while) can be jumbled and confusing at times. As you continue both you and the writers will get your legs under you better. :)

At the time yeah it was.

I'm just not expecting random players to interact w/ me or give me stuff and so it throws me off a bit. 😅

Yeah that’s the FFXIV player base. Being visibly a new player (“sprout,” from the icon next to your name) draws people to try and help you, especially places like outside Sastasha where most of the people present are the newest of the new. I’ve done a bit of that myself, it’s just the custom in FFXIV to help and be generous towards new players. :)
