neat lil character progression in the last episode of journeys
in the second episode of journeys, ash (and pikachu) hears lugia say "here we go!" as it's about to dive into the water. you can see they are better braced for impact while goh comedically struggles with the whole "suddenly being submerged thing". later when the two recount meeting lugia to professor cerise, oak, and the lab assistants, it's clear only ash (and pikachu) heard it. goh is confused, and cerise is downright excited by a first-hand account of lugia telepathically communicating with humanity.

you stick around this franchise long enough it's clear why. ash has done a lotta shit, met a lotta legendaries, and just gosh dang loves pocket monsters. he's cool and trusted. goh meanwhile is a new character, bit more limited in his experiences with pokemon, and as a person is a bit more isolated/socially awkward. thus he doesn't get to hear the "here we go" yet. 135 episodes of pokemon journeys later, full of ash and goh exploring the world and accomplishing major goals in life, and...

add in the both seeing ho-oh right after this to mirror the first episode of the entire show, beautiful little bookend for journeys.
