There’s a meme over on Bluesky to draw yourself in your own version of Akira Toriyama’s idea of paradise. I don’t really have a good avatar for myself, so I drew Polly. She’s basically me anyway. Except I don’t have piercings. And I’m not a cat.

Making games and stuff with swamp goblins

It's okay, you can be a cat in my mind
Unless you'd rather be something else of course
I’d just be reading that issue of Gamefan over and over again. “Yes. I see now that Cybermorph truly is the precipice of a new gaming frontier. 🤔”
Or the issues of EGM where they printed letters from Acclaim and Trip Hawkins over poor reviews of Total Recall and Portal Runner.
See, you get entertainment from Gamefan. Maybe not accurate reviews, but it will get you hyped!
I had a subscription because they had the import and anime coverage. But EGM had Hsu & Chan, so I read them, too. Damn, I miss gaming mags.
I read that most of the writers on Gamefan at the beginning where just people who were working in Diehard Gamefan’s office at the time and I kind of admire that. Like, they just wanted to gush about the cool stuff that was coming into the warehouse.
That’s what I liked about it. It was more a magazine in love with video games than a good source of unbiased reviews. But I always cared more about seeing art and new game announcements than reading reviews, so it was the magazine for me.
