One time my stick broke mid-match in tournament and I opened it up, fixed it, and still won that game

In Chaos Code you can cancel moves even on parry. Normally this is useless since the parry followup is really fast, and it's recovery is invun anyway so you can't punish it. But if you go into an invun move of your own you can come out ahead (default color cerb is +1 here).

Unless you can OS this somehow (I don't know of a way but I haven't looked at it too hard) it's basically just a way to show off, since usually invun moves are not good on block. Sometimes they are tho so it's an option to keep in mind.

Invun command grabs in particular seem useful. You should always be able to jump them but it's a confusing situation to react to.

Also in case you're wondering if you recover fast enough you can block the parry follow-up. I haven't tested everyone's but Kai's at least is +4.
The parry followup hitbox is also just a hitbox, so you can evade it if you trigger it from far enough away, or do something that low profiles or moves your character away from the hitbox.
you might be negative or even punishable in these situations, but because you retain your cancel options you can potentially meaty with something decent. And in Cait & Sith's case you can always just do puppet stuff

Keep in mind that different characters have different hitboxes on their followups, so any setups you have may be character specific.
