I wasn't expecting Leaphorn and his nemesis to have a confrontation quite so soon, so this made for a riveting episode. The tension was well-maintained right through the very end of the episode. It would have been easy to focus only on that storyline, but there were some great subplots along the way. There's still so much to be resolved in the final two episodes of the season!

As the middle chapter of this particular story arc, this episode only carries things forward so far. Brent Spiner is still the best part of the episode. And though it was controversial at the time, I feel like the gruesome murder of the doctor helps to sell how far Malik is willing to push things. But so far, my memories of this storyline are better than the reality of this rewatch.

After a big mythology episode, we get this standalone with some truly disgusting hookworms. I mostly enjoyed this one for the way it focused on Walter's desire and attempts to be more independent. It makes sense that he would be impatient with the limitations placed on him. I also like how he bonds with Astrid throughout.
