RLM started a series of videos about the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. I love those movies-- even the dumber and worse ones are a lot of fun.
One thing that surprised me is that they gave the "gay" reading of Nightmare on Elm Street 2 a lot of credence, and were pretty positive on that movie as a result. Personally I'm skeptical of that reading and don't buy it... it feels like one of those cases where people try to find a way to make an otherwise unremarkable piece of work interesting (making wheat out of hay). Maybe I rewatched the movie I'd see it. Apparently the writer came out and said that they did intend the movie to be a sexuality metaphor, but I feel like it's not uncommon for writers to retroactively latch onto popular readings of their work. I had no idea that the lead of Elm Street 2 was a closeted gay man, though-- that's cool
