I remember agreeing with the idea that Avatar (James Cameron) had no "lasting culturual impact" because no one on earth can name a single character from it, but over time I've realized that people online have a weird and not accurate idea of what "lasting cultural impact" even is. Pop culture now moves much faster than it did in the 80s or whatever

I've been thinking about this the other day ever since someone on Discord said that the Pokemon fan term "Nuzlocke" for a particular play style was the only lastinf cultural impact of the show "Lost." I never watched Lost but comment really annoyed me. What do you know about anything you damn nerd

God I feel you, like they were gonna make a whole ass Lost experience at Disney world at one point cuz it was so damn popular! It's like...people so disconnected from actual popular culture that they think if their friends group doesn't like it then it's had no impact

Yeah it's like.... how do you even measure it? By people making memes and references years later? Are you going to tell me that Dallas had no cultural impact because there's no Patrick Duffy memes. It's just especially annoying when it comes from people whose knowledge of life begins and ends at video games and kids' cartoons

Lol, saying this about Lost is especially ignorant because the stupid JJ Abrams "mystery box" style of writing dominated TV shows and other pop culture for like a decade and is still being used in a lot of TV writing today
