I always hear people say they hate Chrono Cross because it "ruins" Chrono Trigger and I got to thinking... FF7 is one of my favorite video games ever and do you know how much bullshit they made retroactively changing it in the subsequent years?? Just do what I do: imagine it doesn't exist

its more like chrono cross kinda messes itself up cause all of the worst parts of the game are when it tries[badly] to be a sequel to chrono trigger, I think. you can easily just treat CT as a standalone game with nothing to do with it, like you said, but you can't really do the inverse with CC and the game's worse for it. kinda tragic.
I do agree that the worst parts of CC are the ties to Chrono Trigger, and the game would be significantly better without them. I just write it off as an imperfection in a game I still really like
