I really did not like the movie Blue Velvet, but the "dumbass playing Teen Detective immediately gets more than he bargained for and is sucked into a nightmare adult world" conceit of the whole movie is really good. I give it props for that aspect, I just wish it was in a movie that I enjoyed.

It's not quite the same since the main character is an adult but The Kid Detective is a little like this and is also very good imo
