I had the realization that long before "Urusei Yatsura," "Video Girl Ai," etc. the United States pioneered the "magical girlfriend" genre/trope with I Dream Of Genie and Bewitched and I'm not sure how this makes me feel
(was thinking about this because I remembered a twitter post from a few months back saying that apparently Bewitched was really popular in Japan, and posited that it's the reason 'darling' became a popular loanword)
